Community Gearbox is live

One of my good friends has been working on a new app that I wanted to share with you. It's called "Community Gearbox" and it's a resource sharing app.

The way Community Gearbox works is that if you have anything you want to share with your community (like a tool box or a lawn mower or a zero degree sleeping bag) you upload pictures of those items to the app so that others can borrow them. You can also invite your friends to the app so they can add their own items there. You can even create your own group on the app so you can easily see your friends' items. You then browse that group, other groups, and the rest of app, and borrow whatever items you need - just like books in a library but even easier.

To be clear, I'm not being paid to tell you about this app; I have no monetary stake in this at all. I'm also not saying that technology will fix our problems. I'm sharing this tool with you because Community Gearbox is an independently developed anti-capitalist app that may help people to divest from places like Facebook and other technocracies.

This is a message from Dante and Michael, the app developers:

“With Community Gearbox you can buy less, save money, and strengthen relationships.

Our app facilitates the sharing, mobilization, and co-ownership of items–specifically–amongst people who know and trust each other.

Now we’ve released a public beta and you are invited!

If you are someone who is OR you know someone who might be interested in using Community Gearbox…You can jump on the app by scanning this code.

Or visit CommunityGearbox.com to learn more.”
