Harry is Complaining. Again.

Trigger Warning Racism, patriarchy, colonialism, entitlement, war, assault, refugees, death, houselessness, rape culture, veterans, suicide, violence, cops

Screenshot Harry is refusing to return to Britain without police protection. Image description: White English prince Harry is featured in the middle of the photo, wearing a white shirt and a grey jacket. Harry has red hair and a red beard and is smiling with his teeth partially visible, looking forwards but not into the camera.

Here’s a list of my understanding of Prince Harry’s concerns. Beneath the list, I will address each of these concerns one by one.

  1. He doesn’t feel safe from physical threats in his native country of the UK and due to this he might not be able to visit his family in his native country anymore.

  2. He doesn’t feel like his daughter will ever meet her great-grandmother because of this lack of safety even though his daughter is named after her great-grandmother.

  3. He “inherited” a safety concern simply due to his identity and that is a burden he carries even as a private citizen.

  4. He worries about how he will protect his children.

  5. He wants cops and cop resources to act as his own private security.

  6. He wants the people of the UK to give him their resources while saying he wants to pay for those resources.

  7. He said he wants to be financially independent but still thinks public resources like the police should be given to him and his privileged family.

  8. He thinks being a veteran entitles him to police protection.

  9. He doesn’t think that being a veteran of a war that should never have been fought is a problem.

  10. He doesn’t like having to pay for his own family. Why did his Dad have to cut off his allowance that paid for his lavish lifestyle and expensive travel?

  11. He worries about getting on flights.

  12. He doesn’t want to travel without having his every need catered for.

  13. He signed multi-million dollar media deals to pay for security for his family but that is still not enough security for him so public resources should be used.

Here’s what I think of each of these concerns:

  1. He doesn’t feel safe from physical threats in his native country of the UK and due to this he might not be able to visit his family in his native country anymore.

Welcome to being an immigrant, my privileged pampered prince. There are immigrants all over the world who can never return to their native countries because it’s not safe for them there. You know who made it not safe for them in their native countries? The British empire, the western empire, corporations, and you, Prince Harry. Turns out that waging war on other countries makes them not safe and then the people who live there have to emigrate as refugees and then they can often never go home. Those immigrants, however, usually don’t have the luxury of multi-million dollar fortunes to soften the blow like you do.

  2. He says his daughter will never meet her great-grandmother because of this lack of safety even though his daughter is named after her great-grandmother.

It turns out, Harry, that a lot of immigrant children never get meet their elders back home in their native countries because they can never go back to war zones, disaster zones, zones of communal conflict. You know who made it impossible for them to meet their elders? The western empire of which the backbone is the British Empire. That’s you, Harry. Your dad. Your grandmother. Your great-grandfather. Your great-great-grandfather. Your entire racist family. So if your kids can’t see their imperialist great-grandmother and their imperialist white supremacist European family back home in the UK, boo-hoo. Also, no one cares who your daughter was named after.

  3. He “inherited” a safety concern simply due to his identity and that is a burden he carries even as a private citizen.

Hmmm, so you “inherited” a safety concern due to your identity, eh? I wonder if there’s anyone else who has this problem other than you? Only every single Black and brown and Indigenous person and woman and queer and trans and disabled person on this planet. This is a burden they carry on top of being poor, unlike rich and privileged people like you, Harry. And it turns out that the police won’t protect them. In fact, it turns out that because they are so powerless and poor, the police actually target people with these identities so it’s not even safe for them to ask cops for help the way you are publicly demanding. Not only will those marginalized people not get any help from police, it can actually put them in more danger to ask. I know all about this personally, having been targeted by cops myself for my identity as a poor brown woman and that’s not even counting all the ways prior I’d been assaulted by cops on the street, terrorized by cops invading my house, pepper sprayed, shoved to the ground, screamed at for no reason by cops.

  4. He worries about how he will protect his children.

I hear that’s what being a parent is all about, Harry. Parents worry a lot. If you didn’t want to worry, you shouldn’t have had children, but you did so this is now your lot in life. Get used to it. It turns out you just need to get a job and pay the bills and hope for the best, like everyone else. Maybe you’ll need to sit down with your children when they’re old enough and let them know about the dangers of the world, just like Black parents have to sit their Black children down to warn them about police and white supremacy and anti-Blackness, or parents of girls have to sit their daughters down to warn them about stalkers and rapists and pedophiles, or brown parents all over the world have to sit their brown children down and warn them about soldiers and police and rapists and war zones and abductions and communal violence and never ever trusting the empire. A lot of queer and trans kids don’t even get “the talk”, Harry, because it’s not safe for them to come out to their own parents. And no one talks to boys about rape culture and how they might also be targeted by predators. Your privileged comfortable life has no clue of the constant danger every marginalized child is in on a daily basis.

  5. He wants cops and cop resources to act as his own private security.

Cops aren’t private security, Harry. At least they’re not supposed to be in the UK. Police resources in the UK are supposed to be for public service. Your protection no longer counts as a public service since you no longer work for the nation which was your own decision, made voluntarily, when you quit. There are mercenaries out there in the world willing to work for money so go hire them. What’s the matter, don’t you trust them? Are they too expensive for your multi-million dollar fortune? Maybe they don’t think of you as a national treasure and therefore won’t willingly put their lives on the line to protect you. But maybe your life isn’t more important than anyone else’s, Harry. Have you considered that?

  6. He wants the people of the UK to give him their resources while saying he wants to pay for those resources.

If you really didn’t want the people of the UK to pay for your security, Harry, you’d just shut up and hire private security. There are private security firms in the UK just like in the US where you also use private security. So stop whining. We can all hear you and it’s like nails on a chalkboard. Everyone gets burglarized sometimes, even your dear old Grandma with all those cops and trained military killers patrolling every day at Buckingham Palace. It tends to happen when one rich family, like yours, has everything while everyone else’s family has nothing. You’d be safer if you did something concrete to eliminate poverty instead of whining about lacking police protection. So how about you fight capitalism, Harry? But you’d never do that since you and Meghan are confirmed capitalists, right? Meanwhile, you’re wasting how much money on a legal action to try to force UK police to work for you? As if the people of the UK owe you something? Please go away, you spoiled brat.

  7. He said he wants to be financially independent but thinks public resources like the police should still be given to him and his family.

The police and their ability to monitor, track, surveil, arrest, as well as their resources of criminal records, background checks, classified data, intelligence, international diplomacy, legal knowledge, as well as police time and training and equipment and expertise, is all paid for by the British public. Those national resources in no way should be going towards the security of a private citizen who isn’t working for the nation, is a multi-millionaire, and who isn’t even living in their country. You are not entitled to special treatment, Harry, no matter who your dad is.

  8. He thinks being a veteran entitles him to police protection.

I’m pretty sure there are plenty of veterans who are appalled by your behavior, Harry. Aren’t you even a bit embarrassed by your giant sense of entitlement? There are plenty of veterans who manage their own security without demanding the country pay whenever they want to hop home to visit Grandma and Dad. No cops are showing up to protect them, funnily enough. In fact, most veterans seem to be forgotten the moment they’re no longer of use to the empire, unless of course it’s for a photo op.

  9. He doesn’t think that being a veteran of a war that should never have been fought is a problem.

You are a colonizing imperialist who has committed grievous harm upon a whole other country, Harry. Don’t you feel bad about that? You even fought to keep your military titles during the whole “Megxit” ordeal. Have you ever at any point done anything to help the Afghan refugees who were forced to flee their country because of that war you so proudly fought in? The British public has had to spend billions on the war itself and on those refugees that you don’t seem to care about. Have you, after all, contributed to those refugees’ safety in any significant long term way? Have you done anything to protect them? Have you helped them find housing, clothing, food in a sustainable and permanent way? And what about the countless houseless people already in the UK, fighting an endless war against the capitalist patriarchal system that has made them poor and vulnerable? Have you done anything concrete to help those houseless people of your own country since you became a private citizen, Harry? Your so-called charity work that you performed as a member of the Royal Family was your job. You were paid for it with lots and lots of privilege. I remember a giant amount of public money being spent on security for your wedding while the country’s houseless population was skyrocketing. I also remember how you and your wife didn’t seem to have any concerns about that obvious inequity at that time nor later when the country paid for and renovated your royal residence Frogmore Cottage. The Royal Family has so much unearned money and so many houses and so much privilege that I lived my entire life without ever hearing the name Frogmore Cottage until I heard you’d moved into it. The public paid millions for its renovations even though the public was never asked for their consent before spending those millions on your royal residence. You’re now demanding that same country provide you with the public resources of police protection? Meanwhile, the UK houseless population just keeps on growing. Being houseless is very dangerous, Harry. It’s a danger no one chooses, an experience no one wants. Everyone deserves protection from the danger of houselessness. So how about the government use public money to work on permanent solutions to housing people in Britain until there are no vulnerable people sleeping on the streets or couch surfing in temporary shelters and we never talk about police protection for you ever again, Harry? Hmmm? How about that?

  10. He doesn’t like having to pay for his own family. Why did his Dad have to cut off his allowance that paid for his lavish lifestyle and expensive travel?

Well, people don’t get paid if they don’t work, Harry. That’s how the world works. It’s a rule. If you want to campaign for a universal basic income regardless of whether or not someone works, that’s great, but it still wouldn’t make you entitled to police protection from a country you don’t work for. What are you even talking about? Don’t you realize how ridiculous you sound?

  11. He worries about getting on flights and traveling internationally.

Don’t we all, Harry? I can tell you personally that it’s particularly difficult traveling as brown person. It’s even worse traveling as a brown woman. I’ve been stalked in airport terminals, cornered in planes, assaulted on buses and trains, and no one ever helped me. I’ve been searched over and over again with security people’s hands all over my body and in my luggage, and I was never allowed any say in whether or not I wanted to go through all of that. Traveling without protection is horrible. Of course, I didn’t have millions of dollars to use for my own private security. Nor did I have billionaire friends who would let me use their private planes and their private residences to avoid all the usual horrors of going through airports and traveling in other countries. You have billionaire buddies, though, don’t you, Harry? Why can’t Oprah or Tyler Perry or one of your other billionaire friends come through for you, if your multi-million dollar fortune isn’t already enough to cover the cost? Whether they do or not though, it’s still not the British people’s problem since you don’t work for the British people anymore.

  12. He doesn’t want to travel without having his every need catered for.

I mean, customer service just ain’t what it used to be, Harry. It’s time to deal with it like every other adult in the world. If you really don’t like how you’re treated on a flight, or a taxi, or a train, you can always write a letter to customer service and they may or may not send you a coupon for your next trip. Or they might just laugh at you and tell you to get lost. That’s life and that’s what the rest of us have to deal with every day. So are you gonna ask to speak to the manager, Haren? Or are you going to wake up and realize how unbearable you are while there are so many who are vulnerable and never get any multi-million dollar media deals to pay for all their safety worries?

  13. He signed multi-million dollar media deals to pay for security for his family but that is still not enough security for him so public resources should be used.

Yeah, that’s a hard no. You’ve already drained the nation and the entire world of resources and patience for years. Also, you and Meghan always wanted to sign those multi-million dollar media deals while retaining UK police protection, your royal residence, your titles, and the big money from your dad. This was never about being “financially independent” while fulfilling your “duty” to the Queen. It was about capitalizing on your title and celebrity which the British public granted you along with immense privileges that you spat on. You can’t complain now after you walked away from those privileges to make money. So get lost, parasite.

Yet again, Harry has proven that every single thing I said at the time of his “stepping back” from royal duties was 100% accurate.
